Why Must The Godly Suffer
Job 1

Intro: The book of job is probably the oldest book in the Bible and it is a story of a man that faced as much trouble and heartache as any man has ever faced!

But Job was a Godly man, he loved the good God of heaven, so why did he suffer?

This is the question that permeates this book, one of the hardest and most asked questions in the world. WHY DO THE GODLY SUFFER?

Now, job was not the only one to suffer in this story, his wife suffered as well, yet they handled it totally different!

Jobs wife wanted him to curse god and die but job charged not god foolishly!

There are some things that the devil learned in this story:

I 1 – HE LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A HEDGE THAT HE COULD NOT PENETRATE

I 2 – HE LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A HEART THAT COULD NOT BE PROVOKED

I 3 – HE LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A HARVEST THAT COULD NOT BE PREVENTED

I 4 – HE LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A HOMECOMING THAT COULD NOT BE POSTPONED.

We also learn some things in this book about why the godly suffer.

You say preacher, I come to church, pay my tithe, live right, and still I face trouble!

My friend you have listened to much to Benny Hin and Rick Warren, and Rod Parsley.

1 – SUFFERING DEVELOPS FAITH

Job 13:15 though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

My friend if it were not for troubles, and sufferings of this life there would be little need for faith!

The problem with too many Christians these days is that they have no faith!

The bible says: “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Without faith we are told “it is impossible to please him.

2 – SUFFERING DEEPENS FELLOWSHIP

Job 19:25 for I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

Too many Christians have shallow relationships with the lord!

Sometimes the lord allows us to suffer so that we will depend more on him a deepen our relationship!

3 – SUFFERING DEGRADES THE FLESH

In chap 2 job is seated in a heap of ashes (picture of sacrifice) his health gone the flesh stripped away!

My friend the bible says: I beseach ye therefore brethren by the mercies of god to present your bodies a living sacrifice.”

Sometimes god brings suffering into our lives so that we would not get puffed up with pride!

It was for this reason that god put the thorn in Paul’s side, to keep him from thinking of himself more highly than he ought to think!

4 – SUFFERING DEMONSTRATES OUR FORTIFICATION

When we face trouble others are watching us! Our friends, our family, the lost and saved!

If we loose it the devil will use that to discredit the word of god!!!!

THE THINGS THAT WE DO NOT SEE IS THOUSE WHO WORSHIP SATAN OUT ON THIS NIGHT SACRIFICEING SMALL CHILDREN, WE DO NOT SEE THOUSE WHO CALL THEM SELVES REAL WITCHES AS CLOSE AS ASHVILLE THAT ARE DRINKING BLOOD AND DANCING AND CHANTING TO THEIR GOD!

HARRY POTTER, AND OTHER SUCH JUNK BOOKS HAVE LIED OUR CHILDREN INTO BELIEVING THAT HELL IS A JOKE, OR A FOLK LOURE, OR SOMETHING THAT WE NEED NOT FEAR!

THIS IS NOT TRUE! I WANT TO TELL YOU TODAY THE TRUTH ABOUT HELL!

JESUS SPOKE MUCH OF HELL IN THE WORD OF GOD, IN MARK 9:43-47 JESUS TELLS US THAT THERE IS NOTHING WORTH GOING TO HELL OVER!

1 – IT IS A PLACE OF DARKNESS

Math 8:12 “But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness”

MANY YEARS AGO, I WENT TO LINVILLE CAVRENS, WHEN THE GUIDE TURNED THE LIGHTS OUT IT WAS TOTALLY DARK!

THE DARK SEEMED TO CRAWL ALL OVER US!

CAN YOU IMAGINE SPENDING ETERNITY IN TOTAL DARKNESS?

NOW, CARTOONS WOULD HAVE YOU TO BELIVE THAT THE FIRE LIGHTS HELL!

THIS IS NOT TRUE, HELL IS A TOTALLY DARK PLACE!

I HAVE BEEN IN HOUSE FIRES WHERE THERE WAS MUCH FIRE AND HEAT BUT YOU COULD NOT SEE YOUR HAND IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE!

2 – IT IS A PLACE OF DISTANCE

THE BIBLE TELLS US THAT THE SINNER IS “AFAR OFF FROM GOD”

THOUSE WHO ARE SAVED ARE “MADE NIGH BY THE BLOOD OF CHRIST”

AFTER YOU GO TO HELL YOU ARE SPERATED FROM THE LOVE OF GOD AND FROM THE GRACE OF GOD.

SO THERE IS NO MORE CHANCE TO BE MADE NIGH BY THE BLOOD OF CHRIST!

3 – IT IS A PLACE OF DEMONS

IN MATH 25:41 THE BIBLE TELLS US THAT HELL “WAS PREPARED FOR THE DEVIL AND HIS ANGELS”

HELL IS A PLACE OF CONSTANT DEMONIC ACTIVITY!

IF YOU HAVE EVER BEEN IN A PLACE WHERE YOU COULD FEEL THE PRESENCE OF DEMONIC ACTIVITY!

CAN YOU IMAGINE LIVING IN TOTAL DARKNESS AND HORIBLE PAIN, AND SUROUNDED BY THE EVIL OF DEMONIC PRESENCE!

4 – IT IS A PLACE OF DOOM

NO ONE EVER GOS TO HELL AND THEN HAS AN OPORTUNITY TO GET OUT!

IT IS A PLACE OF DOOM FOR ETERNITY!

5 – IT IS A PLACE OF DISTRESS

NO LIGHT, NO WATER, NO RELEIF FROM THE SCREAMS AND CRYS OF THOUSE WHO ARE DOOMED IN HELL, NO RELIEF FROM THE PAIN, NO RELEIF FROM THE DEMONIC PRESENCE, NO RELIEF FROM THE SMELL, NO RELIEF FROM THE NASHING OF TEETH, FROM THE WORMS, AND NO HOPE OF EVER GETTING OUT!

I1 – THE MOVEMENT OF THE SPIRIT

THE FIRST TIME THAT WE SEE THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE WORD OF GOD AND HE IS MOVEING!

THE SPIRIT IS CONSTANTLY IN MOTION!

HE IS THE ONLY PART OF THE GOD HEAD THAT IS NOT SEATED IN HEAVEN, HE IS ON THE MOVE!

A – HIS MOVEMENT IN THE BELIEVER

NOW, IF THE SPIRIT IS CONTINUALLY MOVING AND HE HAS AN ABODE IN YOUR LIFE, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN ABOUT YOU?

WE SHOULD BE ON THE MOVE!

B – HIS MOVEMENT IN THE CHURCH

THE SCRIPTURE TELLS US THAT THE WIND BLOWETH WHERE IT LISTITH, AND THIS IS TRUE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!

HE MOVES TO THE POINT OF LEAST RESISTANCE!

IT IS POSIBLE TO QUENCH HIM AND OFFEND HIM!

OUR JOB AS A CHURCH IS TO MAKE THIS CHURCH A PLACE OF LEAST RESISTANCE SO THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT MIGHT HAVE FREE RIGHT OF WAY IN THIS SERVICE!

THIS IS CALLED LIBERTY!

“WHERE THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS THERE IS LIBERTY!”

I2 – THE MINISTRY OF THE SPIRIT

A – HE MOVES IN DARK PLACES

THE FIRST TIME THAT WE SEE THE HOLY SPIRIT AND HE IS MOVEING ON A DEEP DARK PLACE!

HE IS STILL MOVEING ON DEEP DARK PLACES!

I AM GLAD THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT CAN TAKE AN OLD BLACK HEART AND MAKE IT WHITER THAN SNOW!

B – HE MOVES ON THE “FACE” OF THE DEEP!

THIS SHOWS US THAT HE MOVED ON EVERY PART OF THE DEEP!

THE HOLY SPIRIT DOES NOT JUST MOVE ON THIS CERTIN ASPECT OR THAT ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE, HE MOVES ON ALL YOUR LIFE!

THE SPIRIT SHOULD AFFECT EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE!

I3 – THE MANIFESTATION OF THE SPIRIT!

THE SPIRIT ALWAYS MANIFESTS HIMSELF IN TWO WAYS!

A – HE BRINGS ORDER TO THINGS IN TURMOIL!

THE SPIRIT DOES NOT BRING CONFUSION BUT STABILITY AND PEACE!

THESE FOLKS THAT ROLL AROUND IN THE AILES AND ACT LIKE A LUNITICK, THAT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO ME, IT REMINDS ME MORE OF DEMONIC ACTIVITY!

EVEN WHEN THINGS GET OUT OF THE BANKS AT CHURCH, HVE YOU EVER NOTICED HOW IT IS STILL ORDERLY?

B – HE IS ALWAYS ASSOCIATED WITH CREATION!

THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN THE CREATION OF THIS WORLD!

I AM GLAD THAT ONE DAY MY LIFE WAS WITHOUT FORM AND VOID, AND THE SPIRIT MOVED ON MY LIFE AND MADE A NEW CREATION OUT OF ME!

1 – HIS PROPER RECOGNITION

A – WHAT HE IS NOT

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS NOT A FIGMENT OF SOME RELIGIOUS FINATICS IMAGINATION, HE IS NOT A FORCE HE IS NOT A SECOND CLASS GOD, OR SUBSTITUTE GOD, OR SERVANT OF GOD.

B – WHAT HE IS

HE IS A PERSON!!

THIS MEANS THAT HE HAS FEELINGS, EMOTIONS, AND DESIRES.

HE IS GOD!!!!!

HE IS CO- EQUAL, CO-EXISTENT , CO – ETERNAL

2 – HIS POWER REQUIRED

Zech 4:6 “not by might nor by power but by my spirit saith the Lord.”

A – ONLY THE SPIRIT CAN CONVICT OF SIN

B – ONLY THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT CAN CONVERT THE SINNER

C – ONLY THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT CAN CONDUCT THE SERVICES

EVERYTHING THAT HE ORDERS WILL BE IN ORDER!

LET EVERYTHING BE DONE DECENT AND IN ORDER!

D – ONLY THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT CAN COMFORT THE SAINTS

E – ONLY THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT CAN CONQOUR SATAN

3 – HIS PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP

THE MOMENT THAT WE ARE SAVED THE HOLY SPIRIT MOVES IN.

THIS GIVES US A POSITIONAL RELATIONSHIP,

BUT MANY FOLK DO NOT HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP

THIS IS LIKE A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN A MAN AND HIS WIFE – WHEN YOU GET MARRIED YOU HAVE A POSITIONAL RELATIONSHIP, BUT AS YOU SPEEND MORE TIME TOGETHER YOU DEVELOP A MORE PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP.

A – DON’T GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT

WE GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT WHEN WE DO NOT PROVIDE FOR HIM A PROPER PLACE TO LIVE IN.

Today most Christians are too preoccupied to do anything for Jesus and I believe it makes him sick!

A – WE ARE PRE – OCUPIED WITH OUR PLANS

So often our plans do not match god’s plans but we don’t care!

B – WE ARE PRE-OCUPIED WITH OUR PLEASURES

C – WE ARE PRE-OCUPIED WITH OUR PROBLEMS

I have never seen a time when so many people were consumed with their problems!

it is a sin to worry!

AND HE IS STILL ABLE TO KEEP THEM IN PERFECT PEACE WHO’S HEART IS STAYED ON HIM.

2 – HE IS SICK OF OUR POSITION

neither cold nor hot but luke warm!

my friend that is the condition of so many hear today, you have lost your fervor!

you have not gone so far as to be cold, but you are certainty not hot!

A – OUR POSITION IS ONE OF COMPROMISE

B – OUR POSITION IS ONE OF COMPLACANCEY

in other words we don’t want to do any thing about it!

C – OUR POSITION IS ONE OF CONFUSION

the fact is that so many have been luke warm for so long that they don’t even know it!

are you a Sunday morning only Christian?
if not you are luke warm!

3 – HE IS SICK OF OUR POSSESIONS VS 17

It was not that this church was poor! Oh no they were rich!

They had all the material riches that this world could want but were poor spiritually!

We have nicer buildings, nicer things, and richer members than ever before but less of the spirit of god!

My friend it is not the things that make him sick but the love of those things, and those things coming between him and us!

4 – HE IS SICK OF OUR PERCEPTION VS 18

He tells this church to buy eye salve and anoint their eyes so that they can see!

My friend we live in a time were so many in the church are blind!

A – THEY ARE BLIND TO THE NEEDS OF THE LOST

B – THEY ARE BLIND TO THE NATURE OF SIN

C – THEY ARE BLIND TO THE NEARNESS OF HIS COMEING

5 – HE IS SICK OF HIS POSITION VS 20-21

WHAT A PICTURE – HEAR JESUS IS OUTSIDE OF HIS OWN CHURCH, AND YET HE HAS SO MUCH COMPASSION THAT HE IS STILL WILLING TO KNOCK ON THE DOOR OF HIS OWN CHURCH!

How To Fare Well In The Fire
Dan 3:13-27

Intro: It is a FACT of Christian experience that some times we must go through the fire.

There are the fires of:

1 – TESTING – 1 Peter 1:7
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

2 – TRIALS OF SATAN – 1 Peter 4:12
12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

3 – FIRES FROM THE TOUNGE – James 3:6
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

We all go through the fires of adversity, what really establishes the true maturity of a Christian is how they handle the fire!

Some Christians cant even handle the smoke much less the fire!

It is easy to shout when everything is going good, that takes no courage, no spiritual guts, but when things are falling apart and you still can sing a song that is true courage!

Now, notice that in this story these men were not out of the will of god! In fact they were doing what the lord wanted and they still faced the fire!

A lot of times the devil sees someone going forward for god, so he turns the heat up a notch to try and get them to back slide!

These men faced the fire and yet they fared well, and you can too! You can face the fire and still come out on the other side victorious!!!!!

Here is how

1 – THEY HAD FAITH IN THE FIRE

Now, we all know that faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things unseen!

In other words, faith is trusting god for what you can’t see!

If we can add it up and figure it out that is not faith!

Hudson Taylor the famous missionary took his first journey to china by sail boat, in the middle of the sea the wind went calm and the boat came to a stop, the captain came in and told Mr. Taylor to pray for wind, you first put up the sails and I will pray he replied, the captain was unwilling to put up the sails with no wind fearing he be made fun of by his crews, never the less at Mr. Taylor’s insisting he hoisted the sails, then the captain came in and said, do you continue to pray for wind? Mr. Taylor said “yes” the captain then said “well stop, the wind is about to rip the sails!”

A black congregation once met to pray for rain, the preacher said to the congregation, you folks know why we are here, so I have only one question, where are your umbrellas?

A – THEY HAD A STATEMENT OF FAITH VS 17

A lot of people have what I call silent faith!

They wait for something to work out and then they say, “oh I knew that this would work out!”

real faith says “this will work out for my good” before the outcome is known!

these boys had peace before they ever went in that fire and they were not afraid to tell others about it!

if your faith is week in the fire the outcome is not going to be what you would like!

A – THEY HAD A STATEMENT OF FAITH

B – THEY HAD SERIOUS FAITH

MOST PEOPLE HAVE FAITH AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT INVOLVE THE MORE SERIOUS THINGS IN LIFE!

A – THEY HAD A STATEMENT OF FAITH

B – THEY HAD SERIOUS FAITH

C – THEY HAD A SONG OF FAITH

the reason that they would not dance to the kings music is because they did not recognize the tune!

they had a song in their heart and it did not come from the kings palace or the billboard top 40!

1 – THEY HAD FAITH IN THE FIRE

2 – THEY HAD FELLOWSHIP IN THE FIRE

Shadrack did not face the fire alone, he had Meshack and Abednigo, ect….

anyone who says that you do not need the fellowship of the brethren is a moron!

you may not always have this fellowship in the fire, there may be times that you have to face the fire alone, but most of the time if you will look down the pew from you, you will find a brother or sister to help bare your burden!

in 1765 John Fawcett went to pastor a small church in Wainsgate England, he had a hard time supporting his family, he got an offer from a much larger church and decided to take it, when he loaded his wagon to move his congregation showed up to beg him to stay after seeing their out pouring of love he exclaimed “unload the wagon” the experience caused him to write these words “blest be the tie that binds our heart in Christian love, the fellowship of Christian mind is like to that above”

3 – THEY HAD SOME FIGHT IN THE FIRE

I do not know about you, but it does not seem to me like these men were beet down or about to give up!

they still had some fight in them!

when you work steel in the fire you learn some things about it!

when you heat it, it becomes soft and bendable, however, if you poor oil over that steel as it cools you temper it and make it stronger than ever before!

if you will allow the oil of the holy spirit to poor over you in the fire you will come out stronger on the other side!

John Wesley – give me 100 men who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but god and I will shake the world!

1 – THEY HAD FAITH IN THE FIRE

2 – THEY HAD FELLOWSHIP IN THE FIRE

3 – THEY HAD SOME FIGHT IN THE FIRE

4 – THEY HAD A FRIEND IN THE FIRE

what made the difference was the 4th man in this fire!

A – THEIR FRIEND WAS NOT AFRAID OF THE FIRE

did you realize that the thing you are dreading so badly, Jesus is not afraid of at all?

I always liked to run around with someone who was not afraid!

B – THEIR FRIEND WAS NOT AFFECTED BY THE FIRE

it did not bother him to tread through the flames with his friends!

no matter how hot the fire may get, it will not affect this friend! for he abideth faithful!

C – THEIR FRIEND WAS ACCUSTOMED TO THE FIRE!

He is no stranger to problems!

Isaiah said that he was a man of grief and acquainted with sorrows!

These men would not bend, bow, or burn!

It is hard to burn someone that has rivers of living water flowing from their belly!

1st Sam 17:54

Intro: When we see David early in Chap 17, He is a Lowly shepherd boy with a sling. But here in verse 54 he is the hero of Israel, and he is carrying the huge head of Goliath and dragging his armor behind him!

This may seem like a grusom story, but you must realize the mind set of war.

What we see here is that God really helped David come out a head!

Every body these day’s wants to come out ahead, well, lets look at some things that David did to come out ahead!

Many of you today have Goliath’s in your life that you need to kill!

1 – THE FIGHT HE FACED V 4 – 7

This shows us David’s COURAGE

My friend, it may take a fight for you too come out ahead!

We need some people at our church to have some courage.

A – COURAGE TO GO IT ALONE.

Thank God for someone that does not have to go with the crowd! We need the courage to stand alone if necessary!

B – COURAGE TO GO UN – ARMED

He just took what he knew would work!

We don’t need any new way’s too come out ahead!

2 – THE FAITH HE FOUND V 37

This show’s us David COMITMENT.

A – HE WAS COMMITTED TO THE PROMISES OF GOD.

He remembered some of the things that God had done!

The Bible say’s that “Without faith it is impossible to please him.”

The Lord said, “Ye have not because ye ask not”

We wonder why God don’t do this or that and the problem is our faith.

It don’t bother me what the bank account is, where God guides, God provides! WE NEED TO JUST TRUST GOD!

B – COMITMENT TO THE CAUSE

David said “Is there not a cause?”

We need to have faith that God is going to do something in our church and just stay with the cause.

3 – THE FAMILY HE FORTIFIED

This shows us David’s CONCERN

David was concerned for his immediate family and extended family.

A – HE FORTIFIED ISRAEL

When David killed Goliath it was a help to all Israel, I believe every time they got down they would go back and look at that head.

If you will kill your Goliath, it will be a blessing to the whole church.

B – HE FORTIFIED HIS BROTHER’S.

I believe that he and his brothers had a new relation as warriors!

If you will kill that Goliath in your life it will help your whole family.

C – HE FORTIFIED HIMSELF.

David hid the armor in his tent and would go back to it occasionally. It is good to have something to go back to!

“Have You Been To The Well?”
John 4:3 – 30

Intro: Here we see the story of the Woman at Jacobs well.

This story is one that should touch the heart of anyone who is saved by the Grace Of God!

Now, first in order to understand the spiritual lesson in this story one must first understand the circumstances surrounding this story.

I 1 THIS WAS AN UNPOPULAR PLACE FOR JESUS TO BE.

The Samaritans had no dealing with the Jews! They were sworn enemies!

To come to the Gentiles was an unpopular thing for the Lord to do, But I am glad that he did!

I 2 THIS WAS AN UNUSUAL PERSON FOR JESUS TO TALK TO.

Most would have said that it was bad enough to be talking to a Samaritan but even worse when it was a woman!

I am glad that Jesus was not bias toward women! The women’s right organization says that Christianity wants to put women back into bondage, But Jesus did more to free women than anyone else of his time!

I 3 IT WAS AN UNNESSACARY WAY FOR JESUS TO GO.

There were other ways for Jesus to get where he was going, But he said I must needs go through Samaria.

Now as we notice some things about this woman at the well. I want to ask you this question : HAVE YOU BEEN TO THE WELL?

Jesus said that when a person gets saved that he will have in him a well of living water over flowing! Do you have that well?

1 – THE MISTAKES SHE HAD MADE V 17 – 20

I am glad that God is still saving old vile sinners!

This old gal had some men trouble, She was a fornicator and adulteress. She had made some mistakes in life, but none to serious that Jesus could not save her!

A – IT REVEALS HER CONDITION.

My friend the fact that she was involved in this sin reveals to us that she is lost!

We should always remember one thing, LOST IS LOST!

B – IT REVEALS WHAT SHE THOUGHT SHE HAD CONCEALED.

This woman thought that she had her adulteries and fornication and lies concealed, but there was one that knew all about her! My friend, Jesus knows all about you!

C – IT REVEALS HER OWN CONDEMNATION.

Jesus did not have to judge her, her sin was it’s own Judge! My friend when you point out someone’s sin, you are not judging them, their sin has already done that, and told them that they are condemned!

2 – THE MAN THAT SHE MET.

In this story this old adulteress, fornicating woman met a man that would forever change her Life! This woman apparently had met many men in her life but never one like this!

A – HE UNDERSTOOD HER PROBLEM.

I am glad that Jesus understands people’s sin problem!

Many People in life are looking for someone who understands! Jesus understands!

B – HE CARED FOR HER SOUL.

All these other men had just wanted to abuse her! All they cared about was her physical attributes! But not Jesus, His love went deeper than skin! He loved her soul!

C – HE CHANGED HER PERCEPTION.

You see things different after you meet Jesus!

She saw herself as she was!

3 – THE MESSAGE SHE MINDED.

This is important! It is not enough for the Lord to just come and talk to you, You must mind his message!

A – HIS MESSAGE WAS SIMPLE.

The Lords message for you today is simple. REPENT! That is his message to everyone, REPENT, And REPENT! Turn from your ungodly ways!

B – HIS MESSAGE WAS STRAIT.

Jesus sugar coated nothing for the sake of this woman’s feelings!

He told it like it was! My friend we should love someone who just tells us the truth!

C – HIS MESSAGE WAS STRONG.

You never forget what the Lord says to you! He speaks very strong!

4 – THE MOVE SHE MADE. V 28

A – HE CHANGED HER ROUTINE.

Probably everyday this woman had brought this water pot up this hill and carried it back down full with water, but this time she was different!

I am glad that the Lord makes a new creature out of you!

C – HE CHANGED HER RELIANCE.

When she went to the well that day she was relying on the fact that she would bring water down. This was a need that she felt she must meet on her own!

I am glad that Jesus meets the need!

D – HE CHANGED HER REPUTATION

This woman did not have much of a reputation, but Jesus changed all of that!

5 – THE MULTITUED SHE MOVED V 29 – 30

A – THE EXCITEMENT OF A NEW BORN CHRISTIAN.

B – THE IMPACT OF A BORN AGAIN TESTIMONY.

C – THE EXTENT OF WHAT ONE PERSON CAN DO.

Free Because Of Calvary
John 18 : 38 – 40

Intro: Here we see the story of the crucifixion.

We find Pilate making two very interesting statements.

1st he asks the Lord “What is the truth?”

Had he only realized, he was looking into the eyes of the truth!

Then he said, “I find no fault in him.”

Now, he gave them a choice, Jesus or Barabbas? They chose Barrabbas

Now, lets look at this man Barrabas and how that he was set free because of Calvary!

1 – HIS STAND

Barabas was GUILTY!

The Bible says here that he was a robber!

The Bible tells me that I am guilty for my sin!

“There is none righteous no not one”

“For we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God”

The law does not care about your INTENT, it is just black and white, right and wrong.

We were all just like Barabbas, we were in transgression of the law of God!

2 – HIS STATE

Mark 15:7
7 And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.

Now, we see old Barabas as he lays bound in the bonds for his guilt!

My friend I was bound to sin!

3 – HIS STATURE

Matthew 27:16
16 And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.

This was a man that many people knew! But he still needed help!

I am telling you today that there are a great many lost people that are notable, but all they need is the Lord!

I do not care, big or small all men need Jesus!

4 – HIS SENTENCE

We find that Barrabas was a murderer and a robber, no doubt his sentence was death!

Death is on the trail of every lost person!

“The wages of sin is death”

“When lust hath conceived it bringeth forth sin, and sin when it is finished bringeth forth death.”

Death was my sentence, it was on my trail! Just as God said in the garden of eddon, I was to surely die!

5 – HIS SUBSTITUTE

Jesus took his place! He took his death! (PREACH ON CALVARY)

Does The Lord Have Need Of You?
Mark 11:1 – 11

Intro: Let me begin this message by asking you a question. How many of you would like to serve the Lord?

Now how many of you can actually say that you are actively serving the Lord?

What are your excuses for not serving him actively?

The story of the young colt can well be applied to the life of the Child of God!

Let me first say something about this colt…

HE WAS NOT MUCH!

YOU WOULD THINK THAT THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS WOULD HAVE RODE INTO TOWN ON A ARABIAN STALLION OR SOME OTHER KINGLY BEAST, BUT NO, HE CHOSE THE LOWLY COLT!

HE WAS YOUNG, UN EXPERIENCED AND LOWLY YET JESUS USED HIM!

THANK GOD THAT HE HAS USED THE FOOLISH THINGS OF THIS WORLD TO CONFOUND THE WISE!

1Co 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

GOD USES REGULAR EVERYDAY PEOPLE TO ACCOMPLISH HIS WILL!

1 – HE WAS IN A CERTAIN PLACE

THE FACT IS THAT THIS COLT WAS NOT JUST WONDERING AROUND BUT WAS IN A CERTAIN PLACE!

YOU CANNOT SERVE GOD BY JUST WONDERING AIMLESSLY AROUND! GOD WANTS YOU IN A CERTAIN PLACE!

A PLACE OF SUBMISSION, AND RIGHTEOUSNESS!

2 – HE WAS IN THE CHOSEN PLACE

NOT ONLY WAS HE IN A CERTAIN PLACE BUT ALSO HE WAS IN THE CHOSEN PLACE.

IT IS WONDERFUL FOR YOU TO BE IN A CERTAIN PLACE IN YOUR LIFE BUT FAR BETTER FOR YOU TO BE IN THE CHOSEN PLACE FOR YOUR LIFE, THE CENTER OF GOD’S WILL!

3 – HE WAS IN A CARRYING PLACE

THIS YOUNG COLT DID MORE FOR THE LORD IN ONE DAY THAN MOST BAPTIST DO IN A LIFE TIME!

A – HE LIFTED HIM!

THE JOB OF THE CHRISTIAN IS QUITE SIMPLE – LIFT HIM UP!

CHRIST SAID “IF I BE LIFTED UP I DRAW ALL MEN TO ME.”

MY FRIEND WE SHOULD BE IN THE DAILY BUSINESS OF EXALTING THE SAVIOR!

B – HE CARRIED HIM

THE LAST COMMAND OF CHRIST IS THAT THE GOSPEL SHOULD BE SPREAD TO THE WHOLE WORLD!

OUR JOB IS TO PASS IT ON!

NOW THAT WE HAVE SEEN WHAT THE COLD DID FOR THE LORD LETS NOTICE SOME THINGS THE LORD DID FOR THE COLT

1 – HE UN-BOUND HIM

MY FRIEND THE COLT WAS TIED UP, HE COULD NOT SERVE THE LORD WHILE HITCHED TO THE POST!

SO THE LORD SENT HIS DISCIPLES TO LOOSE HIM!

THERE ARE A GREAT MANY OF YOU WHO CANNOT SERVE THE LORD TODAY BECAUSE YOU ARE TIED UP!

YOU ARE TIED UP TO YOUR SIN, OR TO YOUR JOB, OR TO YOUR ORGANIZATION, OR TO YOUR PLEASURE!

THE LORD HAS SENT THIS LITTLE DISCIPLE DOWN HEAR TODAY TO HELP LOOSE YOU SO YOU CAN SERVE HIM!

HE HAS NEED OF YOU!!!!!!

2 – HE BROUGHT HIM

WHEN WE ARE LOST THE LORD COMES TO US, BUT ONCE WE ARE SAVED WE ARE TO GO TO HIM!!!!!!

WHAT A BLESSED DAY WHEN THE LORD BRINGS US IN TO HIS PERFECT WILL FOR OUR LIVES AND GIVES US THAT SWEET FELLOWSHIP THAT ONLY COMES FROM BEING CLOSE TO HIM!

3 – HE BROKE HIM

THIS WAS A COLT WHERE NEVER A MAN HAD RODE! HE HAD TO BREAK HIM!!!!!! THERE ARE MANY OF YOU THAT HAVE A WILD STREAK AND THE LORD MUST BREAK YOU BEFORE HE CAN USE YOU!
